His Tristan with Bernstein/Behrens is evidence against those in doubt. A great artist who made some damaging decisions later in a troubled career. Altmeyer is a dream companion to him. Boulez does not repress the splendour on magnificent display here. Yum!!!!

Wenn ich mich nicht total irre, ist das eine uralte Inszenierung der Hamburger Staatsoper und den Bürgermeister singt Hans Sotin. Eine der erste. Opern die ich dort als Kind gesehen habe🤗 Herrn Sotin zuzuhören war immer ein Genuss.

Ich habe 1966 dieses Singspiel mit unserem Oberschulchor gesungen.Solist war Horst Dieter Kaschel von der Komischen Oper Berlin. Unsere Qualitaet war damals genau so gut!!!

Gwyneth Jones is the greatest voice ever. Other sopranos said at the time that it was not possible to sing like that, that she was a monster. Praise Welsh monsters!

One of the great opera films, IMO with Della Casa in superb form. I am so fortunate to have a DVD of this performance & my only regret is that Leopold Simoneau is not present here as Don Ottavio even though Anton Dermota, a fine singer, does a respectable job. Simoneau was along with Cesare Valletti perhaps the best tenors at this time for this role. The entire cast here is one to cherish here: Siepi, Edelmann, Berger, Berry, Grummer, & Ernster all in top form. Fortunately this DVD is still available, I believe, to purchase & I recommend doing so for after nearly 70 years it remains a classic.

there is drama, and there is not hitting the notes and missing the intonation. Her voice is absolutly not for this repertoire!! The high notes she is pushing and shouting, the low notes are just air, no voice anymore

It's probably not the best version, but it's ~ by far ~ my favorite version, perhaps because it's the one I learned the opera on. It won the Grand Prix du Disques for that year ~ rare for Supraphon ~ and everything about it shows a heart that I haven't quite heard as much in the other (several) versions I've heard. Thanks for posting it.
